Meet the Team
The program will be managed by a team of 5 women and one man drawn from various professional and business backgrounds that will serve as directors and are committed to the cause. Day to day activities of the program will be overseen by two full-time and three part-time employees assisted by a team of volunteers who include selected people from the target groups. An international coordinator will be hired to manage the international office. Pro Bono lawyers will be invited to help with legal matters.
ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT TEAM
The initial Board will comprise the following members:
Professor (Mr.) Stephen N. Ndegwa – Board Advisor and Chair
Professor Ndegwa holds a PhD in Political Science from Indiana University in the United States and a BA in English and Political Science from College of Wooster, United States. Before joining the World Bank, Professor Ndegwa was a Professor at William and Mary University in the United States. He is currently Governance Specialist in the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Unit – Private Sector of the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C. He is a Board member in many non-profit organizations in Washington, D.C and Virginia. Professor Ndegwa brings to the organization a wide experience and knowledge in NGO management.
Ms. Margaret Mathu – Director (Finance)
Ms. Mathu holds a degree in Business Administration, a Diploma in Management and a certificate in Sales and Marketing. Before moving to the United States, she was a Sales and Marketing Manager with Shell Chemicals, Kenya Branch. She has a wide knowledge of organizational management and fundraising. She has assisted many community groups in their formation. Ms. Mathu brings to the organization, a wide knowledge and experience in fundraising and community organizing.
Ms. Pauline Mugo – Executive Secretary
Ms. Mugo is a qualified administrative Assistant who has excellent skills in Office Management. As an administrative assistant, she has excellent writing skills, records management and organizational management. She will use this knowledge and experience to assist in community organizing and office management. Ms. Mugo is currently studying Management in Health Care in the United States and the knowledge gained will be useful to the organization.
Ms. Anne Macharia – Executive Director
Ms. Macharia holds a degree in Business Education, a diploma in Financial Management from Kenya. She has worked with many organizations ranging from Government entities, corporate companies, Non-Profits as well as International organizations (USAID and WorldBank). She will therefore bring to the organization a wealth of knowledge and 32 years working experience. She will be responsible for overseeing the overall management of the program. She is currently pursuing a degree in nursing.
Ms. Felicity Nyagah – Director – Training and Counseling
Ms. Nyagah holds a degree in Counseling and Psychology from a local university. She has 30 years working experience in various organizations ranging from banking, corporate companies and self-owned businesses. She has been involved in counseling women prisoners as well as other marginalized groups such as victims of sexual and domestic violence on voluntary basis. She brings a wealth of wide experience in designing training programs and counseling to the organization. She is currently pursuing advanced degree in Psychology.
Ms. Gladys Ndinya – Director – Outreach Program
Ms. Ndinya holds a degree in Business Administration from a local college and a Diploma from United Kingdom. She has a wide working experience in various organizations both local and international including World Bank. She is familiar with legal issues having worked for a long time with law firms in Kenya. She has founded and worked with Non-Governmental Organizations dealing with orphans and girl child. Her knowledge and experience will be useful in designing outreach programs. All leadership positions in the organization will be held by women except that of the Program Advisor and Chair. Out of the total positions, two will be held by women leaders drawn from the target groups.
Josephine Wankiru – Program Coordinator.
Josephine has diplomas in Social Work, French and Computer Science.
